How does the stock market work and how do you trade/invest in it?

I want to start trading/investing in the stock market but I do not really understand the terms such as indexes, averages, etc. I also do not know how the whole stock market works. May someone summarize or provide me with a detailed website?

Thanks.|||www.betterinvesting.org|||Simple no nonsense type teaching, this is the best service out there. I have met some others that use this service and it is great.

|||Hi

If you plan to invest money yourself, then go to the link below, which is the website of American Assosiation of Indivdual Investors. They have a good education section for you to learn with. It takes some time to understand investing, so take it slow, and before you invest I would recomend putting your money into a high yield savings account while you learn how to invest your own money.Also make retirement a top priority.

Good luck in your investing|||My advice is to put your money into insured Certificates of Deposit at an FDIC insured US bank. At most, limit your stock market gambling to 20% of your savings to see how it works out.|||There's lots of books out there for the beginning investor that could explain it a whole lot better than we can here. Go to Barnes %26amp; Noble and check them out.

Remember that stocks are investments and that you will need to invest some considerable money in them in order to make them work for you. Do your homework and the best of luck to you.
